Highlights

Tufts University's Friedman School, a leader in nutrition science, policy, and research in interventions in areas related to chronic preventable disease, announces a partnership with Ras Al Khaimah, United Arab Emirates, to bring continuing education seminars, certificate programs, and short courses for health care professionals in areas of present and growing concern to the Gulf States. Courses will address the immediate need in the UAE to prevent and treat obesity, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease as well as nutritional deficiencies in at-risk populations. These offerings will also provide a conceptual framework for health professionals to understand future research in these important areas from the School on effective interventions among at-risk populations. Future programs on pediatric nutrition, food safety, and physical activity will provide needed training for persons in a wide range of professions such as health care, hospitality, physical fitness, and government service.

Who Should Attend?

Health care providers, health care administrators, and public health officials will benefit from participation. Programs will be especially valuable for physicians, nurses, nutritionists, related allied health care professionals, and food service and hotel/hospitality workers.

Expert Instruction

All programs will feature Tufts University faculty in conjunction with local and other international experts. The portfolio of programs will be under the direction of Dr. Edward Saltzman, M.D., Chief of the Division of Clinical Nutrition at Tufts Medical Center.
